This academic year (2022-23), Errington Primary School has become part of the Puffin World of Stories project. World of Stories aims to address some of the key challenges facing reading for pleasure in schools. Research shows that reading for pleasure improves children’s ability to read, write and progress at school, as well as having a positive impact on their mental wellbeing and empathy. Miss Pinder (Reading Lead) and Mrs Graham (School Librarian) are working closely with our Year 5 and 6 librarians to develop our school reading spaces and improve the variety and quality of the reading materials our children can choose from.
We had an exciting visit from Emma Taylor, from World of Stories, Lucy Anderson, from Penguin Publishers, some Redcar and Cleveland librarians and a professional photographer. They were very impressed with our reading spaces and helped up open the £400 worth of books donated by World of Stories independent publishers and Penguin books. Thank you to them all.
